Phil Charnock has been a dance music addict for his entire life, and what better way for that passion to manifest itself than behind the decks? Phil’s eclectic sets embrace many different styles from across the musical spectrum. House, hip hop, soul, disco, jazz, you name it, he digs it. Phil excels at connecting the disparate threads of dance music and making the set remain coherent and accessible.
For over 4 years Phil’s been part of Chibuku Shake Shake’s army of residents during which time he’s had the pleasure of DJing with luminaries such as Gilles Peterson, Mr Scruff, Jazzanova, DJ Pierre, Norman Jay and The Unabombers. Phil’s also played at other classy joints such as Basics, Electric Souls, Ultragroove, The Bomb, Sankeys Soap, Jigsawmusic, Pressure, and many more guest spots around the UK and Europe.
Phil relishes the chance to expose the dancefloors of large clubs to new sounds, but is never happier than playing to like-minded souls in an intimate setting. Which is why he is part of the Sick Trumpet crew, alongside fellow Chibuku DJ Phil Cooper, helping to push a more soulful musical agenda in Liverpool.
